What are Claremont students doing after school?
In Claremont After School, you may see students involved in Tae Kwon Do class , building a vehicle in Lego challenge,or in the computer lab exploring Thinkfinity. You may notice an active group of girls in Girls' Sports, or a class where challenging Games require sharp listening, collaborative problem solving and just plain fun! Teatown joins us every Tuesday, a group of drummers learn about rhythms, and our Theater class actively engages students in the world of acting. Some students like to play Computer Games and many benefit from Homework Help. One of our most popular classes is cooking. We offer two different classes, Chinese Cooking and Cooking for Fun. Our music group combines music with movement and in Ceramics we get to apply our artistic talents!

Hoops for Heart
During the week of February 8th Claremont students participated in an event called Hoops for Heart. Students learned how to keep their heart healthy while having fun and raising money for the American Heart Association. Our 3rd and 4th graders raised $2300 while displaying their basketball skills. See our photos of the event. |

 | During the week of December 14th, the Claremont students participated in fitness stations during their physical education classes. Jumping rope, balancing on hands, dribbling basketballs, climbing ropes, and doing chin ups are just a few of the ways the students challenged their strength, endurance, flexibility, balance and agility. A good time was had by all and the students are eager to do them again. video |
| Veteran's Day On November 9, 2009 the students of Ms. Gim’s, Ms. Delcogliano’s, Ms. Malone’s, and Ms. Dempsy’s classes celebrated Veteran’s Day. They were visited by Ms. Gim’s father, Lieutenant Colonel Gim. LTC. Gim has been in the military for 39 years and served in two wars. He came in and spoke about why we celebrate Veteran’s Day. Students learned that a veteran is someone who served in the military and could have even fought in a war. LTC. Gim also answered questions students asked. When asked about the craziest thing he has done, he answered jumping out of a plane. He also explained how dogs were used as part of the military police when asked about animals in the military. One other fact that students learned was how important education is to join the military as well. The 4th grade classes of Team 5 were so happy LTC. Gim could come in and share his information about Veteran’s day. |
